It is a popular treatment and is suitable for the workplace, as the treatment only lasts 30 minutes and is usually performed with the client remaining clothed, without the use of oils.

Reiki is a Japanese energy healing technique. The predominate form of reiki practiced throughout the world today, also known as Usui reiki, was created by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 20th century. It’s a complementary or alternative health approach. Reiki does not directly cure diseases or illnesses. Instead, it’s used as a way to manage symptoms and improve general well-being.

  • Relieves pain, anxiety, and fatigue
  • Treats depression
  • Enhances quality of life

  • Boosts mood

  • Eases headaches

  • Helps with insomnia
  • Relieves nausea
  • Eases tension

Reiki’s gentle energy is easily adapted to most medical conditions and may be used safely by people of all ages, including pregnant mothers, the new-born, surgical patients, the frail and the elderly, in any situation.

Note: Reiki is being used in various settings including private practice, complementary therapy centres, GP surgeries, hospitals, hospices, cancer support groups, post-operative recovery, drug rehabilitation, prisons, HIV/AIDS centres, and in the care of the elderly.

Auricular Acupuncture

Auricular acupuncture is a type of acupuncture that involves inserting small gold stud type needles into specific points on the ear. (Or using a handheld electronic device, for those who DON”T want needles). Stimulating these points promotes healing in other areas of the body.

Although auricular acupuncture is largely based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (a form of alternative medicine that originated in China), it was developed in the mid-20th century by French scientist Paul Nogier.

It is used to improve the body's flow of vital energy (also known as chi or qi) and to restore a balance between yin and yang (two opposing but complementary energies) within the internal organs. In traditional Chinese medicine, each of these effects is considered essential in treating disease and achieving health.

Auricular acupuncture helps:

  • Allergies

  • Anxiety
  • Arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Constipation
  • Depression
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Low back pain
  • Migraines

In addition, auricular acupuncture is sometimes used to enhance mood, aid in smoking cessation, alleviate pain, promote sounder sleep, relieve stress, and support weight loss.
